3 tonne Mandrel Decoiler

This medium-capacity decoiler can handle up to 3 tonne coils. A decoiler unwinds steel coil, which can be fed into continuously running machinery such as rollformers or automatic punches.

Definitions

drag brake

Uses hand adjustable brake pads to grip a rotating disc. This controls the tension on the strip.

powered unwind

An arm with a roller (called a dancer arm) rests on the strip leaving the decoiler. As the strip is drawn off the decoiler, the dancer arms lifts. This causes the drive to speed up, keeping the strip and machine speed in sync. 

hydraulic expand

1.1kW hydraulic power-pack.
Pendant controls opening and closing of mandrel shoes.
Allows quick changing of coils.

manual expand

A handle slots onto the end of the mandrel.
Turning the handle opens/closes the mandrel arms.
