The Case for Light Gauge Steel: PERFORMANCE - Withstanding the Toughest Conditions

HOWICK - THE PERFORMANCE OF LIGHT GAUGE STEEL

STEEL FRAMING HAS EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE IN WITHSTANDING THE TOUGHEST OF CONDITIONS

...using light gauge steel roll forming technology from Howick FRAMA machines...

Light gauge steel has excellent performance with the ability to withstand extremely tough conditions. One of the greatest performance advantages is that rain does not halt the construction process*.  As moisture is unable to be absorbed by the steel frames you don’t have to wait for the frames to dry. This means that, when using light gauge steel, the construction is not as weather dependent as it would be using other materials.

With the ability to withstand temperatures up to 1000°C, steel framing is also extremely fire resistant^. Light gauge steel is able to bend without breaking, resulting in it being capable of handling 150MPH winds~. Add to this the fact that it is designed to withstand up to a 9 category earthquake on the Richter scale** - these all make light gauge steel an extremely safe choice for building.
