Howick is part of an exciting game-changer in manufactured or industrialised construction which uses technology and light gauge steel to build more efficiently.

We are in growth mode, with a large market share in the UK and Ireland, and we are seeking a Field Service Technician to join us on our journey, to contribute to the continued success of the company. Our UK technical office is based in Chester, and this will be the base from which the successful person operates.

About the role

This full-time position is suitable for someone with great experience and aptitude for all things mechanical. You will:

  • Work with and gain experience in the installation, commissioning, operation, trouble-shooting and servicing of high-tech, high-value machinery
  • Resolve technical issues in a timely manner to minimise down-time of customers’ machines
  • Perform regular servicing of customers’ machines
  • Manage spare parts orders
  • Manage technical phone support
  • Train customers’ operators
  • Be flexible to work outside office hours from time to time
  • Be able to travel throughout UK, and into Ireland, and occasionally parts of
  • Europe Report to the Head of Global Sales based in New Zealand

About You

  • You should possess 3 or more years of machinery servicing and installation
  • You may have come from aviation, car manufacturing, CNC machinery, packaging machinery servicing, to name a few
  • Exposure to the construction industry, particularly in steel framing, will be looked upon favourably
  • It would be ideal, but not necessary, if you have operated steel roll-forming machinery, or have some exposure to it
  • Electrical aptitude or experience is an advantage
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK, and are able to travel unhindered throughout UK, Ireland and Europe
  • You must be able to work independently, and away from home base 50 to 60% of the time
  • Accurate and regular reporting is an essential requirement
  • Good time management is essential
  • You value customer service and are good at building relationships, and take pride in your work
