About the Role

This Auckland based management role reports to the General Manager and you will be responsible as the Company Accountant for the Howick group of companies.

This role suits someone who enjoys the structure of an established company while thriving on the challenge of adapting to changes as the company expands, and on navigating the complexity of a global manufacturing and export company in the construction, engineering and technology space.

The main responsibilities of this role involve:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts
  • Preparing Board Reports
  • Job costing and maintaining accuracy of stock and WIP
  • Monthly reconciliation of the general ledger
  • Foreign currency reconciliations
  • GST returns and other statutory returns as required
  • Preparing financial budgets in conjunction with the management team
  • Managing and co-ordinating the insurance program, annual renewal and recharges
  • Liaising with overseas subsidiaries
  • Responsible for everything tax related
  • Liaising with external accountants
  • Preparing reports for other stakeholders as required
  • Providing support to other subsidiaries
  • Providing input into accounting policies and procedures and implement changes as required
  • Maintaining accuracy of fixed assets register

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Your key experiences and attributes include:

  • Experience as Financial Accountant or Company Accountant for at least 5 years, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Positive, can-do attitude
  • Ability to sometimes work under pressure to achieve deadlines
  • High standard of spoken and written communication
  • Experience with Exonet, or similar accounting software system, job costing and MYOB is preferred

In addition to the above points, we need someone who can work autonomously and who will fit in with the wider team. You also have the maturity and adaptability to handle changes while ensuring our financial operations run efficiently. You will also welcome the opportunity to handle and contribute towards one-off projects.

This is a full-time 8.30 to 5 position, but for the right candidate we will consider flexible hours.
