It is in this growth mode that we are seeking a Software Team Leader & Project Manager to join us on our journey, to contribute to the future success of the company in the development and undertaking of software, cloud and engineering projects to further the Howick technology.

About this role

This greenfield role will help lead the company in product development requirements of software which drives the Howick roll-forming technology. You will be up for the challenge of fast learning, of not just the software side of things, but also the Howick roll-forming technology, the construction industry, and importantly the team culture.

You will spend approximately 60 to 70% of your time on software development, and the rest of the time on project management. Not only will be you be developing new systems to integrate with existing ones, you will also be involved in R&D and blue sky innovation work.

While you understand the language of object-oriented programming and have a strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis, you will also have the opportunity to lead and shape a team, work with cross-functional associates, and drive development. You will be a part of a small, effective multi-disciplinary team.

You are an experienced and successful computer programmer, who have the flexibility to manage ambiguity and change, and energy to drive and manage projects and development.

What you will be doing

  • Developing and testing of high-level control and human-machine interfaces for industrial machinery
  • Developing cloud services and data pipelines
  • Working with mechanical, electrical and production engineering teams

Your qualifications, abilities and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5 to 8 years of professional software development experience in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as C#, Java, Python or C++.
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis
  • Proficient at clearly communicating complex ideas
  • Full stack desktop and web development experience
  • Experience building applications with .NET
  • Knowledge of time-series databases such as InfluxDB, TimescaleDB
  • Experience developing cloud services for industrial machinery (Azure/AWS/GCP)

You will be highly regarded if you have the following:

  • TypeScript, Rust, NodeJS development experience
  • Experience with IoT technologies such as MQTT, OPC-UA
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls systems (sensors, actuators, networking)
  • PLC development experience with structured text
