Looking to the future of construction

There is a lot going on in the building sector with the transition to modern methods of construction gathering pace. This month we announce a special invitation-only event for London, UK. Plus we highlight new evidence supporting the superior performance of light steel in earthquakes, and showcase how one of Howick’s clients is applying our technology to bring advanced design concepts to life.

STEEL HORIZONS I LONDON 2022

Continuing our focus of advocating for better ways of building, we are excited to be hosting an exclusive construction event in London. Taking place on 23 June at New Zealand House, Haymarket in London, this is an invitation-only event featuring guest speakers that include some of the offsite and modular industry’s brightest minds. You are invited to register your interest in the event. Even if you are not able to attend in person, you will receive content from the presentations post event. To register your interest visit the STEEL HORIZONS website.

DIFFA by Design

Showcase: STUD-IO brings advanced design to life

Our framing technology was put to good use by STUD-IO recently using its StudFinder software. The company was commissioned to build a complex smooth curving structure by Perkins Eastman Architects for a design event in New York.

Fabricated at the Autodesk Technology Centre in Boston the installation for DIFFA by Design used our X-TENDA™ 3600 and its precise digital fabrication technology. See the full showcase, including photos and videos of the build process here.

Seismic performance

Seismic performance: Light gauge steel rocking it

There has been a significant uptake in the use of steel framing in residential builds over the last couple of years. Part of the reason, beyond the better known speed and efficiencies of light gauge steel, is its performance in earthquakes.

Those wishing to know more about the seismic qualities of steel framing can familiarise themselves with the results of tests carried out at Melbourne University here
