IN THE FRAME: DECEMBER 2023

Howick: Shaping the world of constructionView in browser

Welcome to In the Frame for December 2023, keeping you updated on the world of modular and light steel construction with Howick.

This month, we discover how the US Navy is using Howick technology. We hit the road with Amr Raafat as he visits SYNC Industries in Melbourne, and we check out new software that can reduce steel waste by 78%.

Finally, it is the holiday season and we need to let you know when we will be closed for our break.

The US Navy and Howick FRAMA machines

US Navy trusts Howick in an emergency

When the US Navy Construction Battalion, the Seabees, hit the shores, things happen fast. Whether it is constructing emergency medical facilities or building temporary or permanent infrastructure, they are there to get the job done swiftly.

One key piece of equipment they can rely on is the Howick FRAMA™ machine. The relatively compact FRAMA™ 3200 machine and decoiler, for instance, can be operated inside a 20ft container, allowing framing to be manufactured in what is essentially a mobile factory.

Happy Holidays from NZ!

Happy holidays from Howick

It is that time of year again! The holiday season and New Zealand summer is here, and many of us will be putting down tools to enjoy a well-earned break with family and friends.

From everyone here at Howick, we wish you a safe and relaxing holiday and look forward to seeing you in the New Year, rejuvenated and motivated to build a better future with us in 2024 and beyond.

Our factory and office will be closed from Friday 22 December until Monday 8 January, but support is available, should you need our assistance, through the normal channels.

On the road with Amr

Amr Raafat and the future of industrialised construction.

Join Amr Raafat as he travels the world and interviews industry leaders about the path to industrialised construction and a prefabricated future.

On his first stop, Amr travels to Melbourne and discovers how the folks at SYNC Industries, a Howick customer, are using their background in car manufacturing to deliver high-end modular kitchens and bathrooms at scale.

CSVizer from VIRI

New VIRI software reduces steel waste by 78%

Lithuanian steel fabrication company and Howick distributor, VIRI, has developed software that dramatically reduces waste (and cost!) in steel fabrication.

CSVizer works by optimising the CSV file, processing millions of potential combinations to find the best one. Not only does it reduce waste, but a trial found it also extends the lifespan of the equipment, decreases energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and increases the machines’ productivity.
