Junior Software Developer - UI (HMI)


Howick Ltd manufactures specialist automated roll-forming machinery which is exported to over 70 countries globally for the construction industry. Howick is part of an exciting game-changer in manufactured or offsite construction which uses technology and light gauge steel to build more efficiently.

In line with the emerging global trends favouring offsite construction Howick is strategically positioned to maximise the growth opportunities throughout the world.

It is in this growth mode that we are seeking a Junior Software Developer – UI to join our busy team. The role focuses on IoT based industrial machinery UI and not office or website software.

This is an excellent opportunity if you have a background or interest in automated machines, creative technology, mechatronics or similar. Howick is the place to grow your professional potential in the technology industry.

The role involves:

  • Development on C# and OO best practice:
  • Back-end development such as LINQ (Queries), Encapsulation, Exception handling, Structure.
  • Data logging and data processing to MSSQL, text files and other formats.
  • Font-end development, especially creating graphs in XAML.
  • Maintaining the backend of the java based existing software (Rust, node .js, npm, git repository)


Bonus skills if you have some professional experience:

  • IT skills (PC Bios installation, repository synchronisation)
  • Various Data Frame formats (using wireshark or similar tool)
  • MSSQL and server configuration
  • Industrial label printing
  • Agile or other similar methodology covering software test, version control, etc
  • Windows Encryption

The role would suit a programmer who likes to work with industry standard technology and hardware.
